Her Interview
Ten minutes with Nina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I really, really, truly enjoy what I do. I don't know what else I would have done, you know, actually after all these years. Thinking back, it was something that when I started reading about it and looking at the stuff and going out to the fields with the engineers, it kind of attracted me more to it. I wanted to understand it better. And I like it. I've been fortunate enough to have mentors, not really within the accounting department, but outside in different departments, mainly in the production and drilling side, so that I could understand what was coming through my desk. I knew what it was coming from the outside, and if I had a question for the engineer, I understood and I knew exactly what I needed to know.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The person needs to be interested in that industry. If you're not, you're not gonna learn what someone is trying to teach you. It's not hard, but like I said, you have to have, you have to be willing to understand it, to want to learn it. It'll probably be in every industry when you're just learning from someone else. I've taught several people throughout my years, and I tell them, I'm open, and I said, you know what? I'm willing to teach you what I know. Whatever knowledge I have, I'm willing to share it with you, but you have to want to learn it.
