Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, which has provided me with strength, guidance, and confidence throughout my journey. I am also grateful for the unwavering support of my family and friends, who have encouraged me through every stage of my career. Combined with perseverance and a commitment to keep moving forward, these influences have played a significant role in my personal and professional growth.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Not that I've received a whole lot of career advice, I've mainly done this through a lot of failures. I just failed a lot, and then eventually started getting the hang of it. Just keep at it, don't give up. Eventually, you get your breakthrough.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do it, take some time to figure out what you want your staff to go in, do some research, and you'll see the different options that you have available for you, see what fit within your life constraints, and then start there. Just start, don't look at the finish line before you even started.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge would be your own mentality, thinking you can't do it, thinking that there's some kind of glass ceiling or something holding you back. It's all been very supportive. Being in one of the science majors can get scary because it's predominantly men, but I think the biggest challenge would be whether or not you believe in yourself.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are integrity, independence, and family. Above all, I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I strive to be accountable, self-reliant, and guided by strong principles while maintaining a deep commitment to the people who matter most to me.
