Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my family—my parents’ encouragement and a bit of healthy sibling rivalry have always motivated me to strive for excellence.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that instructional designers are a support system—if you take the support system away, the system collapses. I’m grateful to Dr. Richard Gray for teaching me the value of collaboration and to my doctoral chair, Dr. Jean Patterson, for helping me embrace a more diverse perspective.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering this field to be themselves, trust their instincts, stay confident, and commit to being lifelong learners.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is keeping up with rapidly evolving technology.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most in my work and personal life are trust, accountability, loyalty, hard work, patience, active listening, and leadership, along with cherishing and protecting the relationships I have with friends and family. I am also passionate about reading, writing, and exploring new culinary experiences, and I draw inspiration from my older sister in everything I do.
