What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistency, accountability, and my willingness to learn. I’ve always taken ownership of my work and made it a point to truly understand the “why” behind what I’m doing, not just complete tasks. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in environments where accuracy, deadlines, and compliance really matter, so I developed strong attention to detail and follow-through early on. At the same time, I’ve learned how important communication is especially working with leadership and non-finance teams to make sure everyone has clarity and confidence in the numbers.
I’ve also never been afraid to step into challenges or unfamiliar areas. Whether that meant learning new systems, improving processes, or taking on more responsibility, I’ve always been open to growth. That mindset, combined with a strong work ethic and integrity, is what has allowed me to progress into more senior roles over time.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was to be very intentional with communication especially in written form and to always think about how my message will be received, not just what I’m trying to say. Early on, I was advised to slow down, choose my words carefully, and make sure my communication was professional, clear, and aligned with the situation. That advice stuck with me because strong communication is just as important as technical skill, especially as you move into roles that work closely with leadership. Over time, I’ve built on that by learning through experience observing effective leaders, asking questions when needed, and holding myself accountable for continuous improvement. I’ve found that being thoughtful, adaptable, and open to learning has helped me grow consistently, even without formal mentoring, and has allowed me to earn trust and take on more responsibility throughout my career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to approach it with both an open mind and an open heart. Be willing to push yourself beyond your comfort zone, because it is through these challenges that true growth occurs.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see in my field is maintaining motivation and engagement in work that can sometimes feel repetitive. It requires intentional effort to keep teams inspired, foster creativity, and ensure sustained performance. At the same time, I view the rise of AI and other emerging tools as significant opportunities. These technologies can broaden our horizons, increase efficiency, and provide avenues for continuous professional growth. Leveraging them thoughtfully allows us to elevate our work, innovate, and create more meaningful impact.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, balance, and accountability. Professionally, I believe in doing quality work, being dependable, and taking ownership of my responsibilities. I take pride in being someone others can trust to be accurate, thoughtful, and consistent, especially when handling financial information and supporting leadership. Personally, my children are extremely important to me, and I value having a healthy work-life balance that allows me to be present for my family while still performing at a high level professionally. I’ve learned that when there is balance, I’m actually more focused, productive, and engaged at work. I’m drawn to organizations that respect both commitment to work and life outside of it where people are trusted to manage their responsibilities without feeling constantly weighed down. That balance allows me to show up fully, bring my best energy to my role, and sustain long-term success for both my career and my family.
