About Nitasha
Nitasha Kakaria brings nearly 13 years of experience in talent acquisition and recruiting, with a specialized focus on technology talent across financial services, consulting, healthcare, life sciences, and pharmaceutical environments. Educated as a software engineer, she initially envisioned a different career path before discovering recruiting through an opportunity with a staffing firm. That experience sparked her interest in the people-centered side of the profession and led her to build a career connecting highly skilled technology professionals with organizations where their expertise can create meaningful impact. Her technical background has remained a valuable differentiator, enabling her to understand complex technical requirements and effectively translate stakeholder needs into targeted talent strategies.
Kakaria currently serves as Associate Director of Tech Recruiting at The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), where she provides recruiting leadership across North America. Her responsibilities include shaping talent acquisition strategy, building and developing her recruiting team, and supporting executive-level hiring. Prior to joining DTCC, she served as a Talent Acquisition Lead at McKinsey & Company, following earlier recruiting leadership and technical recruiting roles with Wipro Technologies, BCM Search, and Hudson. Throughout her career, she has led full-cycle recruitment initiatives, managed senior stakeholder relationships, and recruited technology professionals across diverse industries. She earned her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Information Technology from Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Kakaria has actively engaged with communities supporting women in technology and data science, including Women Who Code, using these networks for professional development, relationship building, and talent connection. She recognizes that one of the most significant challenges facing the industry is the highly competitive technology talent market, where organizations must continually rethink how they attract, cultivate, and retain exceptional professionals. In particular, non-technology companies in areas such as consulting and financial services must develop compelling talent strategies and employer brands to compete with major technology companies. Kakaria encourages young women entering the field to explore, experiment, and remain open to opportunities beyond the path defined by their education, emphasizing that career growth and work-life balance develop over time through experience, intentionality, and the achievement of personal and professional goals.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
When starting your career, I encourage young women to explore, experiment, and remain open to different opportunities rather than feeling confined to the path outlined by their education. It is important to give yourself the freedom to discover what truly motivates you and where your strengths can make the greatest impact. Work-life balance can be challenging during periods of growth and professional development, but with experience, intentionality, and the achievement of your goals, it becomes increasingly attainable.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is the highly competitive technology talent market, which requires organizations to continually rethink their strategies for attracting, cultivating, and retaining top talent while strengthening their employer brand. Non-technology companies, including consulting and financial services firms, often face an additional challenge as they compete for skilled professionals against major technology companies such as Amazon and Google. This environment creates an opportunity to develop more creative, strategic, and compelling approaches to talent acquisition and engagement.
