Noelle Carroll, CDR
Noelle Carroll, CDR, is an executive coach and former corporate recruiter with more than 15 years of experience across talent acquisition, internal mobility, and career development. She began her career in corporate recruiting, spending over a decade supporting high-volume and strategic hiring efforts before transitioning into internal career coaching roles within large organizations. Through this work, she gained extensive experience helping employees navigate promotions, role transitions, layoffs, and long-term career planning within complex corporate environments.
After experiencing a layoff due to organizational restructuring, Noelle shifted her focus toward helping companies improve how they develop and retain talent from within. She now works as a business-to-business executive coach, partnering with organizations to design and implement internal mobility systems that strengthen employee engagement and leadership pipelines. She is the creator of the Stay Shift SOAR framework, which helps organizations categorize and support employees based on whether they are staying and growing in their current role, shifting into new opportunities, or advancing into leadership positions.
In her current work, Noelle supports Fortune 500 companies and enterprise organizations in building structured pathways for employee development, with an emphasis on retention, productivity, and internal advancement. She has delivered coaching and workforce development programs for organizations including Mastercard, Amazon, and Northwestern Mutual. Her approach combines practical recruiting experience with executive coaching methods to help organizations better align employee growth with business needs while improving internal mobility outcomes.

What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my curiosity. I'm so curious. If you and I ever met, I would be asking you a lot of questions, just because I'm so passionate about just getting to know people, and just wanting to understand their perspective and their walk of life. So, I would say that that is almost like my superpower. I'm just very inquisitive, and I just, I just love people, so I'm always like, yeah, you know, where'd you get that shirt? Where, you know, or maybe, like, what, what made you go, oh, you got from Kohl's, uh, how long have you been shopping at Kohl's? Things like that, you know? They're very, very just inquisitive.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give is simply to try everything. We have this saying in our home, you know, try everything, and it actually is from the Disney movie Zootopia - there's a soundtrack with that message. Really, I think that there is an amazing life lesson in that, in that you just try everything. This is what's going to help you develop personally and professionally, so that you have that foundation. You almost have, like, this filtration system, you know, when things are for you, when things aren't for you, but the only way that you really can get to that point is to try everything.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge currently is almost changing the perspective of organizations and businesses. Most organizations are very quick to hire externally, but because of all the changes, the rapid changes that we are experiencing in the market with technology, AI being implemented, and so many different changes, it's very challenging to go externally with hiring. You not only have to ensure that the person that you're hiring externally has that skill set, but you also have to ensure that they're going to be able to quickly ramp up within your organization as you go through those changes. So, changing that perspective of organizations, and really creating this sort of business case of them really pouring into their current employees through that internal mobility system, Stay Shift SOAR, that I've trademarked, is the key challenge and opportunity I'm focused on.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
For me, it is integrity. I have a lot of career conversations, which means that, because we all know that careers are very personal to an individual, and oftentimes that uncovers a lot about that person, and maybe some personal walks that they've gone through. So, I have high integrity. I also am a strong leader, and I pride myself in leading teams and leading organizations. I also am extremely passionate about people and their careers, and I think that that is actually what has guided me to where I am today. And I really feel like this is a mission that I'm on. I'm currently on a mission to really help organizations just sort of not rely on what's out there in the market. Not to say that external hiring shouldn't happen - as a former recruiter, I understand that there is a need - but you'd be surprised how many people, when you turn around that focus, how many people feel valued, and how many people will sort of rise to occasions. I've seen that time and time again inside of the large organizations that I've worked for.
