Her Story

About Nora

Nora Alejo brings more than a decade of experience in healthcare to her role building and structuring patient navigation and patient experience initiatives within startup companies. Her career path began in education, where she taught English with a focus on linguistics, followed by work as a linguist analyst with the DEA, where she contributed to intelligence and court documentation. She transitioned into healthcare through medical interpreting at a hospital, earning certification as a simultaneous and consecutive interpreter, which led to clinical rounding experience. Nora completed two years of PA school prerequisites and worked as a scribe before joining her current organization, where she leads clinical teams, manages patient navigators, develops workflows, KPIs, and supports divisions such as billing and credentialing. She holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree and maintains membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Nora attributes her success to her work ethic, resilience, service orientation, and upbringing as a first-generation U.S.-born individual and the first in her family to graduate college. She values family first, followed by service, integrity, educational growth, mission alignment, impact, and legacy, and she is driven to help patients access care and improve wellness.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Nora

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my work ethic, service, resilience, and my upbringing with limited resources as a first-generation U.S. born individual and the first in my family to graduate college. I also hate feeling stuck, which drives me forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is that if you see a door of opportunity, take it. That's why I have so many careers.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say believe in yourself before the world does. Know your worth, become independent, stay grounded, do not shrink for anyone. Work hard and get educated. Many women have imposter syndrome, so we have to believe in ourselves before we give someone permission to believe in us.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is navigating ambiguity and stepping into chaotic environments, then turning that chaos into structure and scaling it nationwide. We have become successful but it comes with many hours of work and strategy.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family first, then service, integrity to do what's right, growth in education, mission alignment, impact, and legacy. I value being mission-driven to help patients and their wellness.
