Dr. Nora Doyle, MD, MPH, MSc, is a distinguished physician and academic leader specializing in maternal-fetal medicine. She currently serves as the Director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program at UT Health San Antonio, where she combines her clinical expertise with a strong commitment to advancing education and training for the next generation of maternal-fetal medicine specialists. With a career spanning multiple leading medical institutions, Dr. Doyle is recognized for her dedication to improving outcomes for mothers and infants through innovative clinical practice, research, and compassionate patient care.

In addition to her leadership at UT Health San Antonio, Dr. Doyle holds professorships at Roseman University College of Medicine and has previously served in pivotal academic roles at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV and the University of Texas McGovern Medical School. Her roles as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions and Assistant Dean for Ultrasound Education reflect her passion for medical education, mentorship, and curriculum development. Outside of her professional accomplishments, Dr. Doyle is deeply committed to family and personal wellness. A former track athlete throughout college, she maintains an active lifestyle with daily walks and enjoys cooking, baking, and reading. I attribute my success to the many opportunities I have been fortunate to receive throughout my career, as well as the unwavering support and inspiration of my family. My children and grandchildren keep me grounded and remind me of what truly matters, while the role models I have been privileged to learn from have shaped my professional path and guided my growth. Their combined influence has instilled in me a sense of gratitude, resilience, and purpose that continues to drive my work in medicine, education, and mentorship.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to remain truthful and steadfast in your mission, trusting that your dedication and integrity will guide you forward. I have always believed that when you commit to excellence and act with purpose, the cream rises to the top. This mindset has shaped the way I approach both my professional and personal endeavors, encouraging perseverance, honesty, and faith in the process.

My advice to young women entering the healthcare and medical education field is to pursue work that you are both passionate about and skilled at. When you align your career with your strengths and interests, you bring energy, dedication, and excellence to everything you do, which not only drives your success but also allows you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field today is balancing the rapid progression of medical technology with the ongoing, hands-on care of patients. While advances in diagnostics, imaging, and treatment offer incredible potential to improve outcomes, it is essential to integrate these innovations thoughtfully without losing sight of compassionate, patient-centered care. Successfully navigating this balance allows us to deliver the highest-quality care while continuing to advance the field of maternal-fetal medicine.

The values that guide both my work and personal life are hard work, honesty, and a commitment to doing the right thing.
