Her Interview
Ten minutes with Nora
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success is rooted in my genuine commitment to serving others and making a meaningful impact in the lives of the people I support. As a Latina working for a nonprofit that serves the Latino community, my work is deeply personal because I understand many of the challenges and experiences faced by the families we serve. These shared experiences allow me to connect with individuals on a deeper level, approach my work with empathy and compassion, and remain dedicated to creating opportunities and positive change for the community.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to never stop learning and to always lead with empathy. In the lending and homeownership industry, change is constant, and staying informed and continuously developing my skills is essential to providing the best support to those I serve. Equally important is approaching every interaction with understanding and compassion, recognizing that behind every client is a unique story and set of circumstances. By combining professional growth with empathy, I have been able to build meaningful relationships and make a lasting impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to believe in themselves, embrace their strengths, and never be afraid to take up space. Building confidence and recognizing the value they bring are essential to achieving success. I also strongly encourage seeking out mentors who can provide guidance, support, and valuable insights throughout their career journey. Having a strong network and learning from experienced professionals can help open doors and create opportunities for continued growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is affordability, as rising home prices and interest rates have made it increasingly difficult for many families to achieve homeownership, especially first-time buyers. At the same time, there is a significant opportunity to educate and empower communities by increasing awareness of the resources and assistance programs available, including down payment support programs. By helping individuals understand their options and providing access to the right information, we can continue working toward making homeownership more attainable for more families.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, compassion, and service. I believe in giving back to my community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Helping even one family achieve homeownership is incredibly rewarding because owning a home represents more than just a financial milestone; it provides stability, security, and the opportunity to build generational wealth. Being able to support families in reaching that goal is what inspires me and gives purpose to the work I do.
