Nordia Ikner

Founder / Nurse Practitioner / Speaker / Grief Transformation Specialist
Nordia Speaks LLC
Gadsden, AL 64157

Nordia Ikner is a nurse practitioner with nearly nine years of experience as an advanced practice provider and more than 17 years in nursing overall. Her professional path has been profoundly shaped by personal tragedy 18 years ago, when she lost her only daughter due to complications from placenta percreta. During that life-threatening experience, Nordia also nearly died, endured severe blood loss with lasting health effects, and was told she was unlikely to survive with full neurological function. This defining moment reshaped her outlook on life, health, and purpose, ultimately deepening her commitment to holistic, patient-centered care.

Today, Nordia works as a healthcare provider conducting in-home health evaluations for patients covered by major insurance plans such as UnitedHealth, Blue Cross, and Aetna. Her clinical work emphasizes listening, presence, and understanding the full human experience behind each patient’s condition. Through years of sitting with patients in their homes and hearing their life stories, she has developed a strong belief in “wholeness” — the idea that true health goes beyond vital signs and lab results and includes emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Alongside her clinical career, Nordia Ikner is a speaker, facilitator, and founder of Nordia Speaks LLC, an organization named in honor of her daughter. She leads healing-focused conversations, workshops, and seminars primarily within faith-based communities and women’s conferences across the country. She also manages a large online community, Sister Healing Circle, where she facilitates weekly discussions and shares reflective writings focused on grief, resilience, and healing. Through her work, Nordia helps women process profound loss, rebuild their sense of identity, and rediscover hope, purpose, and joy in their lives.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience forged through profound loss, vulnerability, and recovery. After the death of my daughter and significant health challenges that included a critical medical crisis and a difficult recovery process, I chose to rebuild my life despite uncertain outcomes. This journey led me to complete my master’s degree and become a nurse practitioner, grounded in the belief that life can hold meaning and purpose beyond grief and limitation. I have also been intentional about modeling resilience for my son, who was very young when his sister passed, showing him what healing and growth can look like. In my clinical work, especially in home-based care, I’ve learned to define health more holistically—recognizing that true wholeness includes not just physical measures, but also a person’s mindset, self-perception, and belief in their ability to live beyond pain, illness, or loss.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is balancing full-time clinical work, leadership responsibilities, and ongoing health recovery while trying to intentionally scale my broader impact. I know there is more I am called to do, but I am currently working to move from speaking opportunities into a structured, repeatable system that allows my work to grow sustainably. Much of my experience has been in faith-based settings, and I am now expanding into organizations, colleges, and schools through Nordia Speaks LLC by developing training modules and clearer delivery pathways. The opportunity in this season is building a more sustainable platform that allows my work to reach a wider audience in a consistent and scalable way.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are wholeness, compassion, purpose, and resilience. I am guided by the belief that loss is a universal experience, and that true healing goes beyond physical health to include how we see ourselves and our ability to live meaningfully beyond pain and grief. My work is deeply rooted in supporting women and children, shaped by my personal journey and the loss of my daughter, which continues to inform my purpose. I am passionate about creating spaces where children feel valued and where women—especially those who are grieving or isolated—can find support, healing, and renewed meaning in their lives.
