Her Story
About Nubaira
Nubaira Kabir serves as an administrative assistant at a small startup that assists universities with enrollment, where she supports marketing, sales, and tech teams, including implementing AI tools and developing social media strategies. She is also the owner of alleopatisserie, a bakery specializing in sugar-free treats made with allulose, a natural sugar alternative found in fruits like figs and jackfruit that bakes and tastes like white sugar without raising blood sugar levels. A recent University of Illinois graduate with a degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics, Nubaira is preparing for law school while volunteering 2-4 hours weekly at the Greater Chicago Food Depository packing boxes and organizing donated produce. She draws inspiration from her father's experience immigrating with little and building a successful life, and she encourages aspiring business owners to embrace their unique ideas and identity.

Ten minutes with Nubaira
01What do you attribute your success to?
My father came to this country when he was young with not much in his pocket and became a multi-millionaire who's retired and goes on yachts. He sold the American dream and has taken me and my family out to see the world since I was one. That's really inspiring to me and so to follow in his footsteps is what I would attribute to my drive.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Anyone who has an innovative idea or an innovative take on an already existing idea needs to get themselves out there and do it. Don't be afraid to show off your identity and how you make that product your own. Don't listen to what other people have to say and just do it.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Introducing a new product that many people are unfamiliar with. Allulose has loads of health benefits but many people have not heard of it and they're scared to try things that might sound different or foreign. It's also really expensive compared to regular sugar so many people want to ease into convenience with white sugar with the price and the availability rather than try something new and healthier.
