Nhya Gabrielle Laurent-Gilson is a dedicated finance professional and academic, currently serving as a FIN 360L Instructor at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. As a Master of Science candidate in Finance and an incoming PhD student in Fall 2026, Nhya brings a unique combination of rigorous analytical skills and a passion for teaching. Her work focuses on financial modeling, investment strategies, and quantitative research, helping students and professionals alike navigate complex financial concepts with confidence.

With hands-on experience in financial analysis, municipal finance, and wealth management, Nhya has contributed to prestigious programs such as Stifel Financial Corp.’s Public Finance Department and Amplified Planning. She has also served as a tutor and mentor for student-athletes and peers, supporting courses ranging from finance and accounting to business economics and calculus. Through these experiences, she has developed a strong commitment to mentoring, collaboration, and translating technical finance knowledge into practical, actionable insights.

Nhya’s academic excellence is reflected in numerous honors, including the Salute to Excellence Academic Distinction and multiple Dean’s Excellence Awards. Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish, she is skilled in Microsoft Excel, Bloomberg Market Concepts, and a variety of financial planning tools. Passionate about both finance and education, Nhya aims to combine research, teaching, and professional practice to inspire the next generation of finance leaders while advancing scholarship in financial management and portfolio strategy.

I would encourage young women to actively participate in school events and professional groups, stay focused on delivering their best work, and aim to make a positive impact every day.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Balancing school, studying, and work while helping as many students as possible is both a challenge and an opportunity to grow as an educator and finance professional.
