Ten minutes with Olivia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have put a lot of hard work into where I'm at, but I would also say that I did have people that helped me along the way. My family members and my professors, specifically Professor Elizabeth St. Clair, gave me advice and supported me through internship opportunities.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To really be authentic about who you are, and just to work hard. There are gonna be times that are difficult, and I would say you just have to power through that. I have a lot of conversations with my dad about certain things like that.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't wait for the opportunity, but to build skills that make the opportunity find you, and just work hard to build that.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My field is very male-dominant, and something that is challenging is walking into a room and being able to connect with the people that I want to connect with. Challenges me to go out of my way to make myself known, heard, and seen.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Staying true to myself.
