Olubunmi Akin is a Nigerian-American entrepreneur, creative director, and gospel recording artist whose work spans fashion, business, music, and humanitarian service. She is the CEO and Creative Director of Cegullah Royal Apparel, a fashion brand focused on clothing design, school uniforms, bridal wear, and fabric production. In addition to her creative ventures, she serves in leadership within Suncontractors Group as Vice Chairman, contributing to business operations and organizational development. Her professional journey reflects a strong blend of creativity, entrepreneurship, and strategic leadership.
Beyond her business endeavors, Olubunmi is deeply committed to community impact and youth empowerment. She is the co-founder and visioneer of Beauty for Ashes Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged children, women, and families through outreach programs, scholarships, and empowerment initiatives. Through fashion shows, school engagements, and mentorship activities, she actively introduces young people to creative industries while encouraging confidence, education, and self-expression. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the Almighty God for His grace and mercy, as through a closer walk with Him I discovered my purpose and passion. I am also deeply grateful for my hardworking husband, whose unwavering support has been with me every step of the way, as well as my wonderful children, my “Famous Five,” who continually encourage and support me in all that I do.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be thankful, stay focused, and be kind to people.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to start small but dream big, and not be afraid to take calculated risks or learn from failures along the way. It is important to build a strong network, stay adaptable, and keep pushing forward, because success takes time and consistency. Above all, I encourage them to pursue their purpose passionately, stay focused, and remain committed to growth in every stage of their journey.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is upgrading e-commerce platforms to reach a wider audience by leveraging new and emerging technologies.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are gratitude, grit, and grace. I strive to remain thankful in all circumstances, resilient in the face of challenges, and grounded in how I treat others. Above all, I live by the principle of never giving up, no matter the obstacles I encounter.
