Her Story
About Onika
Onika Eversole is a Licensed Master Social Worker (CSW-KY) and psychotherapist working with vulnerable populations to meet their emotional, behavioral, and other psychologically related needs. She earned her BSW, MSW, and a graduate certificate in Mental Health from Eastern Kentucky University, where she then went on to pass the rigorous ASWB Master's Level Board Examination to obtain her Kentucky license to practice. She's currently pursuing licensure in Indiana and New York for those looking for opportunities to work with Onika in the future.
Her unique approach is rooted in lived experience and authentic representation of a passion driven by pure motivation. Onika's journey has been challenging - as she was practically born into a generation of addicts and left her hometown at just 16, alone, to pursue a better life by attending the Job Corps program. So she can truly relate to what it means to face adversity and to live as a minority/vulnerable community member.
Onika's goal is to positively impact as many individuals' lives as she can. In the most meaningful way possible. You can learn more about Onika and her background, interests, and professional work by going to her OFFICIAL WEBSITE: onikaeversole.com. She welcomes women who seek career guidance and those seeking to begin their social work journey!
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Onika
01What do you attribute your success to?
My passion, which is fueled by my lived experience and drive to make a difference in the world, no matter how big or small - at least I am trying to do something!
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
"Don't chase the money" - Dr. George Ashley, EKU MSW Program Professor (During 2025 graduation ceremony).
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to fail. Everything you need to succeed is within you - sometimes we have to look beyond the surface level to find the answers we seek. Do not let fear and guilt determine your opportunities or path along your discovery journey. Educate yourself and establish independence, chase your biggest dreams - leave no room for regret 20 years from now. You can have it all - it's about taking a strategic route and moving through life with INTENT!
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Lack of accessible licensure across state lines - The social work compact has failed to hold up its promise to the SW Profession, at this time.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
INTEGRITY. PASSION. MOTIVATION. HONESTY. LOYALTY. AUTHENTICITY
