About Ophelia
I am an analytical chemist and R&D professional passionate about applying chemistry to real-world innovation and product safety. Currently, I work as an R&D Analyst at Contec, Inc., supporting research initiatives, quality testing, and laboratory development.
Previously, as an Analytical Chemist with The Coca-Cola Company, I performed beverage formulation and packaging analysis using advanced techniques including HPLC-UV, RFIC, XRF, and wet chemistry methods. My work supported product development teams by ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards.
Alongside my industry work, I am an alumna of Black Sisters in STEM, where I’ve contributed as a marketing team member, community champion, and speaker. I am passionate about mentoring and helping build inclusive pathways for women of color in science and engineering.
My graduate research at Kennesaw State University focused on synthesizing photo-labile protecting groups for hydroxamic acids, an area connected to anticancer drug research. Earlier, I gained laboratory standards experience at the Ghana Standards Authority.
I am always excited to collaborate on analytical chemistry, product innovation, and STEM mentorship initiatives.
