Her Story

About Pamela

Pamela Burgos is the Associate Director of Operations & Compliance at Apis & Heritage Capital Partners, where she oversees operational strategy, compliance, and the firm's growing back-office infrastructure. After joining the organization four years ago through The Mom Project as a part-time administrative professional, she steadily advanced by embracing new responsibilities, demonstrating initiative, and helping build the operational foundation supporting the firm's transition from Legacy Fund I to Legacy Fund II. Today, she plays a key leadership role in driving operational excellence for the private credit and impact investment platform. Burgos earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from American InterContinental University in 2008. Before transitioning into finance, she built a diverse career across operations, retail, automotive, staffing, customer service, and aviation, including nearly 13 years as a flight attendant with JetBlue Airways. Her broad professional background has provided extensive experience in operations management, compliance, human resources, finance administration, recruiting, information technology, coordination, and process improvement. As a first-generation daughter of immigrants who worked throughout her teenage years and college, she credits her strong work ethic and adaptability to those early life experiences and to the example set by her mother. Outside of her professional career, Burgos enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching films, listening to podcasts, and exploring different cultures through food and travel. She is an active member of a women's cohort group and volunteers with organizations that support children's healthy eating and educational initiatives. Guided by the values of trust, communication, integrity, and accountability, she is passionate about mentoring others and encouraging women to pursue opportunities with confidence, reminding them that every experience contributes to future success.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pamela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my mother, who has always been my greatest inspiration and role model. She taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and taking pride in everything I do. Watching her successfully balance multiple responsibilities showed me that it's possible to wear many hats while remaining committed and dependable. Because of her example, I've developed the ability to adapt quickly, learn new skills, and confidently take on new challenges throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to never be afraid to take ownership of the things I know and to have the confidence to speak up. My current leader encouraged me to trust my expertise, take responsibility for my work, and confidently contribute my ideas. That advice has significantly changed how I approach my role and has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to always raise their hand for opportunities, even when they don't feel completely qualified or ready. Some of the greatest professional growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and learning through experience. Every job, project, and challenge teaches valuable skills that will benefit your future career. No experience is ever wasted—everything contributes to who you become as a professional.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in finance is that it remains a predominantly male-dominated industry. Early in my career, I often found myself as one of the only women—or sometimes the only Hispanic woman—in the room, which naturally led to feelings of imposter syndrome. Over time, I've learned to embrace those opportunities, recognize that I earned my place, and make my voice count whenever I'm at the table. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity as the industry continues to become more inclusive. Organizations are investing more in internships, fellowships, and early-career development programs that provide meaningful pathways into finance. I believe these initiatives are creating greater access for women and underrepresented professionals while opening the door for continued growth across the industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me every day are trust, open communication, integrity, and accountability. I believe strong relationships are built on honesty and transparency, and that taking ownership of your work creates a culture of respect, collaboration, and excellence both professionally and personally.
