This is a short poem that I wrote for a friend who was going through an abusive relationship many years ago. I didn't want to be too descriptive because I knew she was hurting.

Pamela Lorraine Curry, MBA: Speaker: Pamela Curry, Owner, CPG Private Home Care Providers LLCWhat does being an Influential Woman mean to you?Pamela Curry: Being an influential woman means that you are there for other women who might need your help. You are patient and kind and professional at all times, and you are willing to lend. An ear, a listening ear to listen to see what they have to say and what they might be going through and offer uplifting advice and positive thoughts to them and always staying positive and respectful towards others. What's one piece of advice you would give to younger women chasing their dreams?Pamela Curry: One piece of advice that I have for young ladies is something that was told to me when I was just in my early twenties. I was told to Don't sweat the small things in life, it gets greater later, which means that even if you're going through something at the time, doesn't mean that it's gonna last forever. Things do get greater later, and I am proof of that. And I would like to say to the young ladies, never ever let anybody put you down to the point where you don't strive to be the best person you can be. Always keep your head up and keep on going because everything is going to be OK.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice that I've ever received was from my Counselor in my Neighborhood Youth Corps (NYC) program when I was just 15 years old in high school. The NYC was a special program for low-income youth between the ages of 14-22 years old. It provided part-time and summer jobs for the youth the keep them in school. We would meet weekly with the Counselor for 1 period during the school day. She gave us a list of Career choices and I selected Clerical/Administrative Office work. She always told us to dress to impress and always be professional and courteous to others. My first job was at the Philadelphia Department of Labor and I have not stopped working in an administrative role since.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice that I would give to young women entering my industry which is healthcare is this - never give up and keep on striving to be the best person you can be. Always be professional, get up and get dressed to impressed because if you stay ready, you won't have to get ready. Never settle for mediocre because there is always something that you can learn that will make you a better person. In this industry, you have to be a person who cares about others and not in it just for the money.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now and has always been since I started this business is hiring dedicated and loyal employees. I see that a lot of Candidates that submit their Resumes to our job post really don't want to work and that is very frustrating because my thoughts are, if you don't want to work, why submit your Resume? In this industry, Caregivers must have experience working with seniors, they must have current credentials, and they must be in it because they are truly compassionate and caring for others and not just for the money.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in my work and personal life are honesty, respectfulness, loyalty, diligence, discipline, compassion, and empathy. Also, I strongly believe in doing what I say that I am going to do --- I really dislike when people say they are going to do something and then don't do that (which brings it right back to HONESTY).
