My creative career began in 2000 with the launch of Crafts Unique & Creative Design, where I’ve spent more than two decades creating handmade crafts such as repurposed China dolls, blue jean purses, milkweed Christmas trees, and custom copper wire designs.

In 2020, I began my children’s book series, Saucey’s Adventure. I’ve written nine books, with the first published and two more ready for release. My award‑winning seek‑and‑find book uses real insect photos and Iowa skyline scenes to teach children about feelings, perseverance, and the beauty of nature.

After my mother was killed in an auto accident on October 1st, 2024, songwriting became a way for me to heal and to help others heal. In less than a year, I’ve written over 200 songs, gained more than 12,600 views on YouTube, and built a growing community of listeners. My faith guides my music, and I write for anyone who is hurting, healing, or seeking comfort.

In 3D design, I use Paint 3D and 3D Builder to create detailed models in hours—work that often takes others far longer with expensive software. One of my largest projects is a complete restaurant concept called Grandma’s Country Cookin', a 100% closed‑loop system with no dumpster. At 61 years old, I am finally seeing my dreams come to life, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to share my gifts with others.

My long‑term goal is to build organic greenhouses that provide fresh, sustainable food for my community. The sale of my restaurant concept will help fund this vision.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

When I went back to college for the second time as a single mom raising kids, a college instructor told me I would never be anything more than a hick farmer and would never become a professional. Instead of breaking me, those words became the fuel that pushed me to work harder, learn more, and prove what I could do. Every skill I’ve learned since that moment — from songwriting to 3D design to writing children’s books to building my business — grew out of my determination to rise above the limitation's others tried to place on me.

I later discovered 3D design, and it became another meaningful part of my creative journey. I now share my work on CGTrader, including one of my favorite pieces — a complete coffee set with a creamer, sugar bowl, cups, saucers, spoons, and a tray. It can be customized in copper, silver, or gold. For me, everything comes back to creating, learning, and always finding new ways to improve what I do. I believe that if you are willing to learn, there are no limitations on your life or your future.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never stop learning and never give up. There is always a way to accomplish something, even if you have to think outside the box to get there. If you stay curious, stay determined, and stay willing to learn, there are no limits to what you can achieve. The most rewarding feeling in life is that moment when you realize you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. After all the hard work, learning, setbacks, and determination, reaching that goal brings a sense of achievement that nothing else can replace.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell women to listen to their heart and not give up. There is always a way to get what you want, and there is always a way to get help or to learn—so don’t be afraid to learn. Use tools like Microsoft Copilot, or search online to find the paths that will help you stay determined and reach your goals. If you have family, lean on them. If not, lean on your friends. And remember, the Lord is always there for you to lean on too. Don’t give up on your dreams—keep going after them. I’m living proof that it’s never too late; my dreams are coming true at 61 years old.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that I am a single creator working with free programs, without the multimillion‑dollar software or teams that large corporations rely on. I have to compete against companies with far more resources, yet I still push myself to achieve a higher standard than they do. I want my creations to be precise, polished, and exceptional — work that shines above the rest because it was built by one person with determination, creativity, and pride. The opportunity in that challenge is that being a solo creator forces me to think differently, work harder, and innovate in ways bigger companies often overlook.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are God, honesty, trust, and family. My family is always first, and everything I do — every project, every new adventure — I think about how it will affect them. Honesty and trust guide the way I see the world and the way I work with others. And above all, trusting in the Lord is a central part of my life. My faith shapes my decisions, my creativity, and the way I move forward in everything I do.
