About Pamela

Pamela Gayosso is an accomplished litigation paralegal and case manager with more than 15 years of experience in civil litigation, trial preparation, legal research, and case management. She currently focuses on disability law and special education advocacy, representing children and their families while helping them navigate complex legal matters. Her career began after more than eight years in the private sector, when she transitioned into the legal profession as a legal secretary before advancing to the role of paralegal through her dedication, expertise, and commitment to client advocacy. Committed to lifelong learning, Gayosso earned her paralegal certificate, Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, and dispute resolution certificate from the University of La Verne. She is currently pursuing a Special Education Advocacy Certificate through the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) to further strengthen her ability to serve children with disabilities and their families. She is an active member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association, COPAA, the University of La Verne Legal Studies Advisory Board, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional excellence and service. Much of Gayosso's passion for advocacy is deeply personal, inspired by the memory of her late son, who lived with spinal muscular atrophy. His experience continues to shape her dedication to helping families secure the resources and legal protections they deserve. Beyond her legal career, she volunteers with Pomona Community Fridge and Urban Farm, amongst other food banks throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside, demonstrating her commitment to serving her community. She is recognized for combining compassion, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of others through both her professional work and volunteer service.

Ten minutes with Pamela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, purpose, and the lessons I learned through one of the most challenging experiences of my life. My son. My son was born with a rare genetic disorder, and caring for him gave me a firsthand understanding of the obstacles families face when they have a loved one with a disability. That experience taught me patience, empathy, determination, and the importance of advocating for disability rights.

Rather than allowing those challenges to define me, I chose to let them inspire me. My son gave me a deep sense of purpose and ignited my passion for disability rights, inclusion, and advocacy. His journey inspired me to dedicate myself to helping individuals and families navigate difficult situations with compassion, understanding, and hope. Every achievement I have accomplished has been driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and to help create a more inclusive world where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to never stop asking questions and never be afraid to seek clarification. Asking thoughtful questions demonstrates a commitment to learning, builds understanding, and helps prevent mistakes before they happen. I've learned that no one is expected to know everything, and the willingness to ask questions is a sign of professionalism, curiosity, and a genuine desire to do the best work possible.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the legal profession is to embrace every opportunity to learn, even if it isn't the exact role you envisioned. Don't be afraid to start in a different or more junior position if it allows you to gain valuable experience and develop a strong foundation. Every role teaches important skills, builds confidence, and provides insight that will serve you throughout your career. Be patient with your journey, continue learning, and trust that your dedication and hard work will open doors to the opportunities you aspire to achieve.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges facing the legal profession today is the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence. AI has become a valuable tool for improving efficiency, streamlining routine tasks, and assisting with legal research, but it should never replace critical thinking, legal analysis, or independent verification.

AI affects the legal profession in different ways. One concern is the growing number of instances where legal professionals have relied on AI-generated research without verifying it, resulting in non-existent cases and inaccurate citations being submitted to courts. These situations can have serious consequences, including court sanctions, damage to an attorney's credibility, malpractice claims, and, in the most severe cases, disciplinary action that could jeopardize an attorney's license to practice law.

Another challenge is that many clients place complete trust in AI-generated legal information. While AI can provide general information, it cannot evaluate the unique facts, procedural requirements, or strategic considerations of a specific legal matter. As a result, some clients may discount or question the advice of qualified legal professionals in favor of AI-generated responses, which can lead to misunderstandings, unrealistic expectations, delays, or costly mistakes.

I believe AI should be viewed as a tool that supports legal professionals—not as a substitute for their judgment, experience, ethical responsibilities, or personalized legal advice. When used thoughtfully and responsibly, AI presents a tremendous opportunity to improve efficiency and expand access to legal information. However, preserving the integrity of the legal profession requires that both attorneys and clients recognize AI's limitations and continue to value the expertise, accountability, and professional judgment that only trained legal professionals can provide.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide my personal life are gratitude, service, compassion, integrity, and a commitment to justice and inclusion. I believe it is important to appreciate the opportunities I have been given and remain thankful for everything I have accomplished, while recognizing that success is most meaningful when it is used to help others.

Giving back to my community is one of my greatest priorities. Whether through volunteer work, advocacy, mentoring, or simply offering support to someone in need, I believe that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact. I am also deeply committed to fighting for justice and promoting inclusion, especially for individuals and communities whose voices are too often overlooked. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity, and I strive to reflect those values in both my personal and professional life.

I also value being someone others can rely on—whether that means assisting a coworker, helping a neighbor, or supporting my family during difficult times. Helping others brings me a genuine sense of purpose and fulfillment. It reminds me that success is not measured solely by personal achievements, but by the positive difference we make in the lives of those around us. I strive to approach every interaction with empathy, respect, and a willingness to serve, while working toward a more just, inclusive, and compassionate community.
