About Pamela

Pamela Hernandez serves as a project manager at Old National Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she has been employed for two years as of this July. Although relatively new to the banking industry, she brings a background in finance from her college studies and a strong interest in financial counseling and planning. She joined the bank through the Orr Fellowship, a post-graduate program specific to Indiana that pairs participants with full-time roles. In her position, Pamela has handled a variety of responsibilities including research, events, and marketing initiatives. She attributes her professional success to the unwavering support of her parents, who encouraged her education and helped her become the first in her family to graduate high school, attend college, and secure a corporate position.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pamela

01What do you attribute your success to?

My parents have been my biggest supporters and cheerleaders. They encouraged me to go to school, get good grades, and learn something new. They didn't make me work during high school so I could focus on my studies, and their support helped me become the first in my family to graduate high school, go to college, and enter a corporate job.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Have an open mind and look for a mentor in the industry. Job shadow to understand the day-to-day. As a female in a predominantly male industry, just be you, put your best foot forward, find a mentor, don't take no for an answer, and pursue what you want with determination.
