Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pamela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've always had motivation - I'm just an outgoing person. I think one thing that I really love is being able to build customer relationships. It's rewarding to me. I enjoy speaking with different people and learning their story, because somehow, someway, it's a small world and we all kind of connect on that one little story. I started my sales career early, at 16 in high school, working at Macy's, and by my senior year I was president of my DECA class and managed 4 jobs while going to school. I've been able to move forward and have a successful career by just keep going and following my dreams and wanting to know knowledge. Knowledge is the biggest thing, I would say, out there. If you can gain knowledge in whatever field that you're interested in, the more the knowledge, the better off you are.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always expand your knowledge and training and learn from others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say, you know, don't ever give up, keep going. Nowadays, I'm seeing that if you have the experience now, they're wanting to talk to you. Like, I have 3 credits in college only, and I've been able to grow in my career and now I'm an account manager. So I've been able to move forward and have a successful career by just keep going and following my dreams and wanting to know knowledge. Knowledge is the biggest thing, I would say, out there. If you can gain knowledge in whatever field that you're interested in, the more the knowledge, the better off you are. And go out there and be hands-on, you know, do a little volunteering. Do a lot of things in your life that you never thought you would ever do, because you're growing when you're doing those things. When you invest in yourself, not only are you getting more excited in your career, but you're also helping others by having that knowledge.
