Ten minutes with Pamela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my passion for the arts, my willingness to take calculated risks, and my commitment to continually growing as a creative professional. I began my photography career in 2004 and pursued opportunities that challenged me to expand my skills, including making the pivotal decision to leave a stable position and pursue fashion photography with Neiman Marcus, a move that proved to be one of the best decisions of my career. Today, I bring that same courage and curiosity to my role as a Studio Director and commercial photographer at Agency Habitat, where I lead creative teams and enjoy producing large-scale campaigns for beauty, wellness, and other consumer brands. I believe success also comes from surrounding yourself with people who encourage your growth, remaining open to new possibilities, and believing in your own abilities. My advice to young women entering the field is to believe in yourself first and build a strong network of people who will support and encourage you along the way.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the photography and creative industry is to believe in yourself and in the career you are building. No one will believe in your potential as deeply as you can, so do not depend on others for constant affirmation or validation. If you find yourself surrounded by people who do not support your goals, be willing to seek out a community that encourages your growth, challenges you positively, and recognizes your potential. Surrounding yourself with the right people can make a meaningful difference, but ultimately, your confidence and commitment to your own path must come from within.
