Her Story

About Pamela

Pamela Williams is currently a student pursuing a Master's in Social Work at the University of Oklahoma, a program she began in August. She earned her bachelor's degree in Integrated Studies from the University of Oklahoma in May, graduating magna cum laude with a 4.0 GPA, and previously completed an associate's degree from OCCC in 2017. Since 2006, she has worked on the clerical side of education, including roles as a registrar and substitute teacher, where she supported middle school and high school students, many from socio-economically challenged backgrounds or involved with the justice system and foster care. Her goal is to continue this work as a social worker focused on at-risk youth. She is a member of the Social Workers Association at OU and has volunteered annually at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner since 2018. Williams advises those entering the field to focus on making a difference in one child's life, noting that education leads people into the future and that one should believe in their possibilities.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Focus on making a difference in one child's life rather than trying to change the world. Education can lead you anywhere because you're leading people into the future. Believe in their possibilities until their last breath.
