Her Story

About Pansy

Pansy L. Romo, LEED AP serves as Vice President of Construction and Partner at Intech Mechanical Company LLC, bringing more than 24 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. In her role, she oversees company operations, including financial management, project leadership, business development, strategic growth initiatives, and operational excellence. She leads design-build pursuits, collaborates with key clients on large-scale projects, supports project teams, and mentors leaders throughout the organization. Her focus on fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement has contributed to the company’s growth and long-term success.

Pansy began her career in project support roles and steadily advanced through positions including Project Manager and Senior Project Manager before transitioning into operational leadership with another contractor. She later expanded her industry perspective as an MEP specialist with a general contractor, supporting complex, large-scale projects involving multiple trades. This experience strengthened her understanding of the construction process from both the specialty contractor and general contractor perspectives, ultimately preparing her to return to Intech Mechanical as part of the company’s leadership team. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her expertise in construction management, strategic planning, cost discipline, and developing high-performing teams.

A passionate advocate for people and culture, Pansy is committed to creating an environment where employees are supported, challenged, and empowered to grow. As a woman in a historically male-dominated industry, she has demonstrated resilience by preparing thoroughly, contributing meaningful insights, and building credibility through her expertise and results. She encourages aspiring leaders to pursue growth with humility and ambition, seek out mentors, and confidently use their voices when navigating challenges. As part of Intech Mechanical’s succession plan, Pansy is preparing to assume the role of President within the next five years, where she will continue advancing the company’s vision, strengthening workforce development initiatives, and expanding opportunities for women in construction through industry leadership, mentorship, and programs such as the Placer County FLAME initiative.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pansy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to preparation, hard work, and consistently delivering meaningful contributions that have helped me build credibility and trust throughout my career. Working in a male-dominated industry has required resilience, determination, and the confidence to advocate for my capabilities while continuing to grow professionally. I have also been fortunate to have mentors who recognized my potential, supported my development, and encouraged me to pursue opportunities that challenged me and expanded my impact. Their guidance, combined with my commitment to excellence, has played an important role in shaping my success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to remain humble while staying ambitious, and to approach every opportunity with preparation, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. Be a dependable teammate, honor your commitments, and build a reputation based on integrity and trust. Use your voice confidently, communicate directly and respectfully, and do not hesitate to share your ideas and perspectives. I also encourage women to seek out mentors, whether men or women, who believe in their potential, provide guidance, and advocate for their continued growth and advancement.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that the industry has not yet reached full equity, particularly when it comes to advancing women into senior leadership roles. While more women are entering the profession, many still face barriers that impact their ability to progress and reach their full potential. At the same time, this presents a significant opportunity to drive meaningful change through focused workforce development, outreach, mentorship, and advocacy. By creating stronger pathways for growth and increasing awareness of career opportunities, we can build a more inclusive and equitable pipeline of future leaders.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are fostering a supportive culture, maintaining accountability, and leading with humility and respect. I believe in the importance of being prepared, following through on commitments, and treating others with fairness and consideration. I am committed to creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow. Investing in the development of others and promoting equity are principles that guide how I approach leadership, collaboration, and relationships.
