Her Story
About Pao
Pao Saenz is a visual artist, muralist, and fashion artist based in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has been creating art since childhood and began exhibiting her work in 2008 after encouragement from a co-worker in Argentina, where she also pursued some university studies before realizing it was not the right path and becoming a self-taught artist. Since deciding to become a full-time artist in 2017, she has completed mural projects across multiple U.S. states including Florida, Texas, Colorado, Washington, and Nevada. Her notable projects include a large-scale immersive mural and interactive sculpture installation for an escape room venue in Seattle. She also creates one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces by transforming regular clothing into artistic relics. Pao attributes her success to pushing through challenges and learning to manage her work as a business, and she values originality, self-expression, and honesty in her art.

Ten minutes with Pao
01What do you attribute your success to?
Since deciding to be a full-time artist, I pushed through no matter what. I've been learning how to manage business. I'm not just an artist, I'm a business person, a businesswoman. I'm always trying to improve my business.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To keep focused on my career, no matter what the opinion of the people. It's very hard to be an artist because of all the ups and downs, but I've always been super motivated.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To keep learning, not just focus on one art. Keep pushing hard. If they like some artist, not try to copy them, but try to learn how they are succeeding on that field.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
As a woman, sometimes it's harder. Having consistency in murals or in selling, in sales.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
To express myself in my art, to be original, and always honest.
