Her Story

About Paola

I'm a career coach at Palmetto Park High School, a charter school where I started this year in 2026. It's an excellent school, and I really like it there. I've been in the education industry for over 15 years, and my main areas of expertise include management, coaching, education, curriculum, and activities. What I'm most proud of in my professional career is becoming a teacher. It's not an easy job, but I have good classroom management, and the students are good with me. I earned my Master's of Business Administration from Mercy University in New York in 2014, and my Bachelor's in Finance from Sergio Arboleda University in Colombia back in the 1990s. I'm also certified in business education and have a reading endorsement. I plan to attend a cohort with the Humanities Association Education in North Carolina this summer. Outside of work, I enjoy exercising, reading, and making candles and soaps, which I sell on the side through Instagram.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Paola

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have been a self-driven person. I like to achieve things that I like, and I like to learn a lot. I think that, for me, it's very important to learn new things and put that into my career. Being driven to continuously learn and apply new knowledge has been key to my success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to pretty much understand the concepts of being patient. Because in education, you have to be patient and listen to the students. That's the most important thing. When you are patient, you can help them out to succeed.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The opportunities are probably the digital field that we are living in right now. I think this is an opportunity for education and for anybody who needs AI. The challenges that I have seen are probably when I didn't speak fluent English. That was a big challenge for me, but I think I have overcome that.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think honesty is one of the most important values. Being responsible and proactive are also key. And being respectful is one of the most important values to me in both my work and personal life.
