About Paola
Paola Lugo Velazquez is a Senior Project Manager in Engineering at Solidify Manufacturing in Rogers, Minnesota, with 15 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering. She began her career as a Process Engineer in Mexico, where she contributed to manufacturing plant design and startup, machinery installation, process development, and operational improvements. Her career has since progressed through technical writing, quality systems, and engineering project management roles, giving her a broad understanding of manufacturing operations and project execution. In her current role, Paola leads engineering and manufacturing projects with a focus on coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and supporting successful production launches. Her experience includes automotive manufacturing, tooling validation, APQP, PPAP, quality management systems, ISO 9001 compliance, document control, change management, and customer design reviews. Previously, as an Engineering Project Manager at ALUDEC SA, she managed automotive badging programs from award through full production launch, working closely with engineering, tooling, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams. Paola combines her technical background with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. She holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in Environmental and Sustainability Management, complemented by studies in Operations Management at IESE Business School and a certification in GenAI applications. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and has also volunteered as a Spanish interpreter at a free clinic in Minnesota. Her areas of specialization include project management, process engineering, technical documentation, quality systems, manufacturing operations, and cross-functional project coordination.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being curious, adaptable, persistent, and willing to keep learning. I've had opportunities to grow in different areas and meet talented people. A big part comes from having a good support system including family and a good partner.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to value family and education. Family provides the support and foundation that keeps me grounded, while education gives me the knowledge and opportunities to grow, adapt, and succeed throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait until you feel completely ready. Be curious, ask questions, learn from people around you, don't underestimate your perspective, persist, and keep learning. Every day is a learning experience.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Technology and automation are the biggest opportunities and challenges. It's important to involve people while integrating these advancements across engineering, operations, quality, suppliers, customers, and leadership. Communication and collaboration remain crucial.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are innovation, communication, and collaboration. I believe technology plays an important role in improving efficiency and creating new opportunities, but its impact is strongest when combined with clear communication and teamwork. I value working with others, sharing ideas, and building strong relationships to achieve meaningful results.
