About Patricia
Patricia Albrecht is a Consulting Finance Director and Interim Chief Financial Officer serving municipal governments across Texas, including the City of Wilmer and other small cities. Based in Celina, Texas, she is a seasoned public finance professional with more than 25 years of experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and capital planning. She is known for her servant-leadership approach, emphasizing ethical stewardship of public funds, accountability, and building strong, sustainable finance teams within local government organizations.
Her career spans progressive leadership roles in municipal finance, including Finance Director positions in multiple Texas cities such as Hutchins, Celina, and Richland Hills. In these roles, she has managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led annual audits, developed financial policies and reporting systems, overseen ERP and software migrations, and strengthened internal controls and compliance frameworks. She has also been instrumental in achieving Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recognition for excellence in financial reporting and budgeting, as well as improving financial transparency and operational efficiency in growing municipalities.
Beyond her executive finance work, Patricia is actively engaged in professional and community service. She has served as a budget reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the child welfare system, as well as with nonprofit organizations supporting vulnerable populations. In addition to her public service career, she has pursued creative interests such as freelance family photography, furniture restoration, and interior decorating. She is also an MBA candidate, further strengthening her expertise in strategic finance and organizational leadership.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Following my passion for governmental accounting after discovering it through temp jobs, building relationships, and enjoying the work despite initial plans for other careers like medicine or law.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Pursue careers in governmental accounting, highlighting its rewarding nature and benefits like retirement packages, while providing insight into how government finance works.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get into governmental accounting because it is rewarding as you make a difference to an entire community, provides great retirement benefits like 2 to 1 match not found in corporate world, and opens your eyes to how government finance works making you an insider.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Managing limited revenues to fund community needs like infrastructure, water, sewer, parks, police, and fire while juggling tight sources of revenue and explaining complex decisions to the public.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my professional and personal life, I place the highest value on integrity, ethical conduct, and compassion. I believe in consistently doing what is right, even when it is difficult, and maintaining honesty and accountability in all actions. I also strive to treat others with empathy and understanding, ensuring that my decisions and interactions reflect respect and care for those around me.
