About Patricia
Patricia Brown serves as an Adjunct Professor at Houston Community College, where she has taught principal and teacher certification courses for 10 to 12 years. After retiring from public schools following a 36 to 37 year career in education, she continues to support aspiring educators by helping them prepare for state certification tests and navigate the challenges of school leadership. Her professional journey includes positions as a substitute teacher, teacher, content support specialist, assistant principal, principal, District Director of Curriculum, and District Director of Professional Development. Brown earned her undergraduate degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing from Texas Women's University in 1981. She emphasizes flexibility, problem-solving, and keeping students as the priority in her guidance to new educators.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think to be prepared to face some big challenges but to also be flexible and know that there's more than one way to solve any problem. And you just have to look for the win-win. Keep the children in mind as the priority and stay focused on your why.
