Her Interview

Ten minutes with Patricia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my family, especially my husband and four children, as well as the encouragement I receive from my church and community organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution. Their support has continually inspired me to pursue my ambitions and grow both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to regularly ask myself, “Why?” Understanding what motivates me and reassessing my goals as circumstances change has helped me make thoughtful career decisions. My own journey across education, finance, and higher education has taught me to remain open to change while building on the skills and experiences I’ve gained along the way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to take the time to truly understand yourself, your goals, and what you want to achieve in life. Ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” and “Why am I choosing this field?” Understanding your purpose can help guide your decisions and build a fulfilling career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is having access to the resources needed to continue growing and developing my skills. At the same time, one of the greatest opportunities and rewards has been building meaningful relationships with colleagues, students, and people throughout my career. These connections have enriched my professional growth and perspective.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are kindness, respect, and honesty. I believe in treating every individual with compassion and respect while being open and honest about my thoughts and feelings. I also value creating an environment where others feel comfortable being honest and communicating openly with me.
