About Patricia
Patricia Van Esch is an artist and Pilates instructor with a studio in Bronxville, New York. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati's College of DAAP with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design and began her professional career in the early 1980s in New York City, where she worked for approximately 20 years in fashion design for Calvin Klein, Liz Claiborne, and Ralph Lauren. After raising her twin sons, she transitioned to independent creative work, painting murals and offering faux finishing services before launching her website, PVEdesign.com, in 2006 to focus on illustration and art commissions from clients worldwide. In 2017 she earned her initial Pilates certification with Club Pilates, later obtaining a classical certification through Evolve Your Training, and she has served as a lead instructor while teaching both mat Pilates and art. She is currently managing a small studio in Bronxville, where she offers private sessions, mentors high school interns, and encourages clients of all ages to build strength and creativity. Van Esch received the Grumbacher Award during college and maintains a commitment to community involvement through past roles with the Junior League, church CCD teaching, and PTA.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Patricia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think probably number one is that I'm very passionate. My dad would always say, do what you love, and what you love will love you back. I feel like I'm very passionate about my art, and in my home as well.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is you only have one shot. If you want to go for something, do it. You won't regret it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do it. You won't regret it. Especially now. Staying positive is really important.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunities are to work with younger teenagers to introduce them to mat pilates, encouraging young children and teenagers to get off their phones and move their body. I love teaching art and working with young people to show them how to train their mind and create.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and honesty. In Pilates, I'm selling sessions and it is expensive, so I have to earn their trust. It's important to encourage clients to commit and see results in their body.
