What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my wholehearted commitment to children, my persistent advocacy for all students—including those with disabilities—and the example set by my father, which continues to inspire me every day.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received comes from watching my father, Louis David Wittkower Jr., who has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my life. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, he served on D-Day plus one and in the Korean War. After retiring, he returned to Dallas and dedicated 18 years as the ROTC commander at W.W. Samuel High School in the Dallas ISD. His commitment to service, whether through the military, his run for state legislator, or simply offering guidance and support to those in our community, taught me the value of putting others first. Observing his integrity, leadership, and selflessness has inspired me to be the person I am today, and I am deeply grateful for the lessons he has imparted.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To young women entering the field of education, I would say: go in with your whole heart and your full commitment for the sake of the children. At the end of the day, everything we do is for them. Whether it’s celebrating their successes, guiding them through challenges, sharing a laugh, having serious conversations, or providing discipline, be fully present and act from a place of genuine care. Let your love for children be the foundation of your educational journey and the guiding principle in everything you do.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in work and life are honesty and compassion. I strive to support others—emotionally, financially, or through guidance—while always being forthright.
A cause particularly close to my heart is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, whose work with seriously ill children has deeply touched me through the students I’ve taught. I am proud to support their mission and encourage others to do so as well.
Outside of work, I am passionate about antiques, reading, and helping others. Whether mentoring students or offering a helping hand, my life is guided by empathy and a commitment to making a positive difference.
