About Patricia

I've spent over 20 years building my career in customer service and entrepreneurship. For the past 5 years, I've worked at SafeLite, where I handle customer service calls all day and file glass claims for insurance using Salesforce. But my entrepreneurial journey started 15 years ago when I founded Tidy Twins, my own cleaning and organizing business. Although it was supposed to be a partnership with my sister, she never helped out, so I did it myself. I've been cleaning and organizing homes, mostly for elderly people from my church, and I still do it to this day. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Baker College in Flint, Michigan in 2010. Now I'm ready for a new challenge. I want to transition out of my current position and use my brain more and my muscles less. I'm working toward becoming a virtual assistant for small businesses, where I can leverage my skills in scheduling, email management, Facebook, social media, typing, Word documents, Salesforce, and Excel. I've also gained experience catering large weddings on weekends for the last couple of years. My goal is to work from home, help people, and do something different that isn't as repetitive as what I'm doing now.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say do it early and just do it. I always think I should have started earlier. I could have probably had a large, lucrative cleaning business if I would have just taken the steps, but I was always nervous that I wasn't going to have enough people to clean for. So I worked full-time for somebody and did this on the weekends, but I really wish I would have taken the steps to go out and do it full-time from the beginning. Just do it. There's no time like today.
