Her Interview
Ten minutes with Patricia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of grit, passion, determination, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on both people and organizations. Early in my career, my focus was on helping clients improve their employee benefits strategies and reduce one of the largest expenses on their balance sheets. As I transitioned into leadership, my focus expanded to developing people and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
I did not have many mentors during the early stages of my career, which motivated me to become the type of leader I wished I had. Throughout my leadership journey, I have worked intentionally to influence careers, establish meaningful career paths, and create opportunities for team members to grow professionally. What drives me every day is the opportunity to make a difference—for my clients, my team, and my organization. My success has been built on passion, perseverance, and a commitment to leaving a lasting impact.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most valuable career advice I have ever received is to pause before making decisions and ask myself, "What is the end game?" Before attempting to solve a problem, I focus on clearly defining the outcome I want to achieve.
This mindset has shaped my leadership style and decision-making process throughout my career. By understanding the desired result first, I am able to evaluate options more strategically, align actions with long-term objectives, and make decisions that support both immediate needs and broader organizational goals. Beginning with the end in mind has consistently helped me achieve better outcomes for my teams, clients, and business.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the insurance and employee benefits industry to recognize that tremendous progress has been made and that opportunities today are greater than ever before. This field has become significantly more inclusive and diverse, creating pathways for talented professionals from all backgrounds to succeed.
At the same time, I believe it is important to acknowledge the unique challenges that can come with balancing a demanding sales career, family responsibilities, and personal goals. Success requires perseverance, resilience, and a willingness to remain focused despite obstacles. The road has been paved by many women who came before us, and I encourage the next generation to continue building on that progress, pursue leadership opportunities, and support other women as they advance in their careers.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges facing our industry today is the rapid escalation of healthcare costs. Healthcare spending continues to rise at unprecedented rates, creating significant financial pressure for both employers and employees. We are currently operating in a difficult market environment where controlling costs and mitigating risk have become increasingly complex.
At the same time, this challenge creates opportunities for innovation and strategic problem-solving. Our responsibility is to help organizations navigate these complexities, identify cost-management strategies, improve benefits programs, and deliver solutions that support both financial sustainability and employee well-being. The ability to create meaningful value in a challenging healthcare landscape represents one of the most important opportunities in our industry today.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, transparency, and honesty. I believe trust is built through open communication, consistency, and doing the right thing even when it is difficult.
Throughout my career, I have worked to lead with authenticity and ensure that clients, colleagues, and team members always receive honest and straightforward communication. Transparency creates stronger relationships, better decision-making, and greater accountability. These values guide both my professional leadership approach and my personal life, and they remain the foundation of how I serve others and build lasting relationships.
