About Patricia

Patricia Powell is the Executive Director of National Autism Peer Support, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing individuals with autism and their support networks with resources, acceptance, understanding, and greater community awareness. Patricia joined the organization in 2017 as a facilitator and became Executive Director when the organization transitioned into a nonprofit in 2022. As an autistic woman herself, she brings lived experience to her advocacy, with a particular focus on supporting adults with autism and increasing awareness of how autism can present in women, who are often underdiagnosed or misunderstood.

Patricia’s commitment to service and advocacy is reflected throughout her professional and volunteer experiences. She has contributed to organizations including Hands On Nashville, where she served as an AmeriCorps member focused on technology volunteerism and volunteer activities, and Preston Taylor Ministries, where she gained nonprofit operations experience. She has also volunteered with the Junior League of Nashville through its Advocacy, DEI, Grants, and Strategic Partnerships committees, as well as supporting individuals with physical and developmental disabilities through therapeutic riding programs. Her academic background includes a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts/Early Childhood Education from Southwestern College.

Beyond advocacy and nonprofit leadership, Patricia is a published author whose works include Endless Nightmare and its revised edition. She is currently developing My Cowboy Dreams, a novel exploring themes of faith, relationships, and personal growth. Through her leadership, writing, and community involvement, Patricia remains committed to empowering others, particularly women with autism, and creating greater inclusion and understanding. Her work reflects her belief that advocacy is about helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue their goals and live to their full potential.
