Paula Ariola is a dedicated life coach and advocate for personal transformation, based in Waterbury, Connecticut. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare and social support, Paula has worked extensively with individuals facing mental health challenges, substance abuse recovery, elderly care, and children with autism. Drawing on this deep professional background, she has recently formalized her decades of pro bono work into a structured life-coaching practice, helping clients move past trauma and “stuck” feelings to create meaningful, forward-focused lives.

Paula’s approach combines trauma-informed conversation, practical support, and spiritual reconnection to empower her clients. She works closely with each person to identify obstacles, clarify goals, and foster self-love and resilience. Her coaching programs typically run from two to six months, tailored to the depth of each client’s needs, and all prospective clients begin with a free 15-minute assessment to ensure the right approach for their unique journey.

Educated in Sociology and certified in Women’s Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Communication through Cornell University, Paula blends her professional knowledge with real-life experience as a single mother and survivor of childhood trauma. Her mission is to guide others from pain to purpose, reminding clients that their stories aren’t defined by the past and that the best chapters of their lives are still ahead.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my ability to understand and connect with people on a deep level. Having personally navigated challenging and traumatic experiences, I’ve developed empathy and insight into the complexities of human emotions. This perspective allows me to relate to others’ experiences, understand their feelings, and support them effectively. By leveraging this understanding, I’m able to help people navigate their challenges and regain a sense of balance and direction in their lives.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to truly believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. I’ve also learned the importance of loving the work you do—because if you don’t enjoy the work itself, it’s difficult to stay motivated or fulfilled in your role. When you are passionate about the work, it naturally leads to satisfaction in your job and a more sustainable, rewarding career, rather than just working for a paycheck.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to pursue it only if you truly love the work. Passion for what you do is essential, because this field demands dedication and resilience. It’s equally important to take the time to recharge and care for yourself—if you’re constantly giving without replenishing your own energy, you risk burning out. Prioritizing self-care allows you to sustain your impact and thrive in your career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field is gaining visibility and connecting with those who need support, especially with changing social media algorithms. The greatest opportunity is helping someone overcome challenges and regain what they thought was lost—it’s deeply rewarding work.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, self-awareness, and love. I believe that nurturing a strong spiritual connection and truly understanding and loving yourself is essential, because it allows you to show genuine care and compassion to others. By cultivating this inner foundation, I can build meaningful relationships and bring as much love and support to those around me as possible.
