About Paula
Paula Beasley serves as the marketing and communications manager and website administrator at Bridge Valley Community and Technical College in Charleston, West Virginia. She has held this position for three years after transitioning from work at automobile dealerships and in the nonprofit sector. Beasley earned both her master's degree in Media Studies and her bachelor's degree in Communications from West Virginia State University. She also dedicates significant time to community service as board chair of Family Care, a federally qualified health center in West Virginia, where she has served for ten years. Her professional approach emphasizes transparency and flexibility, and she values the advice to always keep learning because things are constantly changing. In her personal time, Beasley enjoys travel and photography, particularly action shots and unstaged real-life images.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I had a professor in college who said that, always be learning. Things are always changing. Kind of goes with the flexibility.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You don't know everything, and you… it's always be open to learn something new.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Everything is always changing. There could be different requirements for accessibility, there could be different for accreditation, so we just have to remain fluid and always think that everything is always changing.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and flexibility.
