Ten minutes with Paula

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my passion for helping others recognize and reach their full potential. One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been witnessing the growth of team members and women as they discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize the impact they can make. Seeing that “light bulb moment” when someone recognizes their own capabilities and understands their power is incredibly meaningful to me. I believe true success comes from empowering others, creating opportunities for growth, and supporting people as they achieve goals, they may not have thought possible.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that anyone can become a manager, but it takes true dedication, commitment, and the right skills to become a natural leader. I have learned that leadership is not defined by a title or position, but by the ability to inspire others, build trust, support growth, and make a positive impact. Being a strong leader requires empathy, accountability, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to continue investing in their education, whether through traditional schooling, online courses, or professional certifications while gaining hands-on experience. Building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills is essential for long-term success. I also encourage women to become involved in professional organizations such as SHRM, participate in local chapters, and actively network with others in the field. Finding a mentor or partnering with someone whose career path they admire can provide valuable guidance, insight, and inspiration. Most importantly, be proactive in creating opportunities, building relationships, and continuously growing both personally and professionally.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in my field right now is the ability to learn and grow by surrounding yourself with individuals who have achieved the level of success you aspire to reach. I believe in the importance of partnering with and learning from someone whose career path you admire and whose values align with your own. Building relationships with experienced professionals can provide valuable mentorship, insight, and perspective while helping you navigate challenges and identify opportunities for continued growth and advancement.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are loyalty, accountability, and respect. I believe loyalty builds strong relationships and creates a foundation of trust, while accountability means taking ownership of my actions, commitments, and responsibilities. Respect is at the core of how I approach every interaction, allowing me to value different perspectives, support others, and create a positive environment. These principles guide the way I lead, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships with those around me.
