About Paula
Paula Gabauer owns her own business as a notary in Edinburgh, Pennsylvania, a role she has held since 2002. After earning a bachelor's degree in marketing, she began her career in human resources before transitioning into various sales positions across the manufacturing, mortgage, and recycling industries. Her longest tenure and primary area of expertise is in the mortgage industry, where she travels to multiple counties to close loans while working with mortgage companies, title companies, and brokers. Gabauer maintains active memberships in the National Notary Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries. 01What do you attribute your success to?
It's not easy, you have to be well organized, you have to be focused, detail-oriented, and have the drive to work. You have to have that drive to be successful.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have that drive to succeed. If you have that drive to succeed, you will. You'll find the way, you'll find if you need money, you'll find the money. It doesn't cost a lot to be a notary, so if you have the drive to do it, you'll be able to make that money back in no time.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The mortgage industry is always an up and down field, so you do have to have other sources of income whenever it's not as profitable. The opportunities are that there is a lot of different things you can do with a notary license.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Make sure my family's taken care of, and that gives me the drive to succeed.
