Her Story
About Paula
Paula Lightsey serves as an executive director in the school system, bringing nearly 50 years of experience in education. She began her career as a teacher, motivated by the positive energy of her second-grade teacher, and advanced through positions as a counselor and building administrator before reaching her current leadership role. Lightsey holds a Bachelor's of Science, a master's of counseling, and a Specialist in Educational Leadership. Her professional focus includes social-emotional learning, supporting STEM programs, and integrating mindfulness to address the mental health and wellness needs of students and educators. She is a TEL Fellow in Transformative Educational Leadership, a member of Mindful Leaders, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Lightsey also contributes to community efforts as a TELP Fellow focused on equity and leadership in education and through her involvement with the Each One nonprofit, which provides seminars and scholarships for graduating seniors. She attributes her success to working in a career she loves and witnessing the lasting impact of her efforts in building strong foundations for others.
