What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the guidance and encouragement I have received from mentors and role models who have helped shape both my professional skills and my values. Their insight pushed me to think critically, set high standards for myself, and remain committed to growth. Equally important has been the unwavering support of my family as I continue to chase my passion. Their belief in me has given me the confidence to take risks, persevere through challenges, and stay focused on my long-term goals.
My success is also rooted in my attention to detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to continued education and learning. I believe that consistent effort and a willingness to learn are essential to meaningful progress, and I strive to improve myself every day. Above all, my passion for equity in education drives my work and keeps me motivated. It reminds me why the effort matters and reinforces my dedication to creating opportunities and positive change for others.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to focus on leaving success in my path by building others up along the way. By helping people grow, develop confidence, and reach their potential, I’ve learned that meaningful success multiplies and creates lasting impact beyond individual achievement.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the education field to move confidently into their careers, knowing that opportunities extend far beyond the classroom. While teaching is essential, there are many ways to work behind the scenes and still make a meaningful impact on the next generation. Every role in education—whether direct or supportive—plays a vital part in shaping the future of our youth.
As I continue to share more about my own journey, I plan to discuss the path I’ve taken in my career, the experiences and people who have inspired me, and the passions that drive my work in education. I also hope to offer insight into where I see my career growing and how I aspire to positively influence both my peers and the students we serve. My goal is to empower readers to recognize the diverse opportunities in education and to understand that impact is not limited to the classroom—it can be made in countless ways.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Public charter schools face several ongoing challenges, including consistent funding, building strong partnerships with local school districts, and addressing transportation needs for students. For schools pursuing new construction or renovations, additional obstacles such as zoning restrictions, securing suitable locations, supply chain disruptions, and rising construction costs can significantly impact timelines and resources.
Despite these challenges, there are powerful opportunities within the field. Charter schools are uniquely positioned to reach more students and meet them where they are in their educational journeys by removing barriers to access and success. By expanding innovative programs, offering career-focused certifications, and creating pathways that increase students’ earning potential, schools can change lives and strengthen communities through education.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me are passion, equity, and perseverance. I am committed to making education accessible to all, especially those with limited resources, and providing opportunities for literacy and higher learning. Attending graduations and witnessing students succeed is incredibly rewarding, and I hope to see even more young people achieve their goals over time.
