Walking away was hard, but the most courageous decision was admitting something no longer fit and choosing a direction truer to who I've become.

Her Story

About Pauline

Pauline Kalil is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Independent Medicare Plan Advisor based in Lawrence, Massachusetts, with a career dedicated to helping people make informed decisions about their health, wellness, and insurance needs. She began her insurance career in 1983 after graduating from high school, initially working in auto insurance claims administration before advancing into claims handling, supervisory positions, and auto damage appraisal, a field in which she spent approximately 12 years. She later managed an auto body shop before returning to the insurance industry and ultimately transitioning into Medicare, where she has spent the past several years helping clients navigate enrollment, annual plan reviews, and coverage options that align with their healthcare needs and financial circumstances. In addition to her work as a Medicare advisor, Pauline maintains a health and fitness coaching practice, drawing on her certifications in personal training and yoga. She works with clients both in person and virtually, providing guidance in exercise, nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, and injury recovery. Her approach is centered on personalized strategies, sustainable results, and helping individuals feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. Across both areas of her career, Pauline is passionate about helping people and believes in leading by example, providing clear guidance and practical support tailored to each individual. Pauline is also deeply committed to serving her community as a Director of the Exchange Club of Lawrence and the Andovers, where she contributes to fundraising initiatives and supports scholarship opportunities for grade school and high school students. She credits her success to her dedication to helping others and to the advice her father gave her to “take the bull by the horns,” a philosophy that has encouraged her to remain proactive and embrace opportunities throughout her career. Guided by honesty and integrity, Pauline advises young women entering the Medicare and insurance field to stay focused, organized, and flexible while continuing to adapt to an ever-changing industry landscape.

Ten minutes with Pauline

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a genuine commitment to helping others and leading by example. Through both personal training and my work with Medicare clients, I strive to practice what I encourage others to do—prioritizing health, wellness, consistency, and informed decision-making. Whether I am supporting someone on their fitness journey or helping them navigate their Medicare options, I aim to provide compassionate guidance, dependable support, and encouragement every step of the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my father, who encouraged me to “take the bull by the horns.” That advice has stayed with me throughout my career, reminding me to take initiative, embrace challenges, pursue opportunities with confidence, and never be afraid to take ownership of my path.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to stay focused on their goals, remain organized, and be willing to adapt. The industry is constantly evolving, so staying flexible, continuing to learn, and embracing new opportunities can help build a successful and rewarding career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity in my work is building a strong client base while establishing myself as a trusted advisor in both Medicare planning and health and wellness. I strive to understand each individual’s unique needs and provide personalized guidance—whether that means helping them navigate Medicare coverage and healthcare resources or supporting their fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness goals. Building lasting relationships through trust, education, encouragement, and dependable service is at the heart of everything I do.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are honesty and integrity. I believe in being truthful, dependable, and respectful in every interaction, while treating others the way I would want to be treated. Staying true to my principles and doing what is right for those I serve is at the foundation of both my work and my personal life.
