What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, perseverance, and embracing every opportunity that comes my way. I’m passionate about helping others, especially women, balance their work and personal lives while managing their careers and businesses. My education—two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. —has given me the knowledge and skills to guide others, care for people, and run my own business effectively.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: if you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen. It reminds me that determination and persistence are key to overcoming challenges and achieving your goals. And, there is no shame in asking for help. In fact, it is a sign of strength!
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Support each other. Be each other's allies. Give what you can, knowing it will always come back to you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, one of the biggest opportunities my field is ensuring those in this field (professional services) are able to balance work and non-work. I've watched those who came before me, and peers around me sacrifice personal lives in the name of work performance and career advancement. I'm sure the professional services industry is not the only industry that has seen this. It has been disheartening, though, to watch women (and some men) either leave organizations or "fall behind" in their careers because the necessary support was not in place to help them navigate. as a result, I am watching firms lose great talent and face incredible challenges in recruiting. And, there is hope that these challenges are creating the necessary pressure to invite change!
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my work and personal life, I value exploration, service, and balance. I have a deep love for nature and traveling, which helps me recharge and stay inspired. Upcoming trips, like my planned visit to Bali, remind me of the importance of experiencing new cultures and perspectives while maintaining harmony in everything I do. And regardless of where I visit, I believe in acts of service and reciprocity to show my gratitude and reverence for the land, people, and cultures that have welcomed me.
