Her Story

About Peggy

Peggy Erickson is a professional organizer based in Livingston, Montana. She assists clients with downsizing and decluttering, whether preparing for life changes or managing overwhelming amounts of possessions, often navigating grief and family transitions in the process. After earning an interior design degree from Montana State University, she began her career working for interior designers in Bozeman and then Livingston. She later established her own interior design practice, which led to a 15-year focus on kitchen design. In 2022, following burnout during the COVID period and inspired by her own experiences handling family estates after the loss of both her mother and her husband's mother, she transitioned to professional organizing. This shift allows her to help others in a more supportive capacity, informed by her mother's minimalist and organized approach to living. Peggy has also contributed to local efforts such as the Giving Tree, which provides Christmas gifts for children in need, and she advises aspiring organizers to gain some psychological background to address the deeper emotional attachments people have to their belongings.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd probably say that I wish I had had time to understand the psychological part of it. You might need to have a little psychological background as well as the desire to help people make their spaces better. It's kind of a multi-level profession coming at it from creativity but also mental health type issue.
