What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, never giving up and believing in myself, and faith - faith in God. I feel blessed. You know, the way I look at it, yeah, I did my part, but nothing is possible without God's help and will. That's how I feel. I think being a physician is my calling, because I come from a family with no medical professionals. It's not like I followed in anybody's footsteps. I think I was just born to be a physician. This is all I've ever thought I'd be in life.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is that you always follow your dreams. And that the best tool you'll ever have in life is your education, because no one can ever take it away from you. You could lose all of the possessions of life, because life is life, but your education is something that no one can ever take away from you or lose it - not unless you lose your faculties, I guess. I think that would be it.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Perseverance, faith, belief in oneself, and the central importance of education are the guiding values that shape both my professional and personal life.
