About Penny
Penny Wegner owns an insurance agency in Wisconsin where she has worked as founder since 2023 after transitioning from 26 years in healthcare and 15 years in the insurance industry. She specializes in Medicare, long-term care planning, estate planning, and Legacy Conversations, her signature educational program that guides families through beneficiaries, powers of attorney, Medicare options, and wills or trusts. Wegner describes herself as an educator rather than a salesperson and emphasizes building lasting client relationships by listening extensively instead of rushing through appointments. Her approach stems from personal family experiences with grandparents and her father-in-law that highlighted gaps in planning, leading her to prioritize comprehensive conversations that help clients avoid common pitfalls in retirement and legacy matters. She conducts seminars on these topics across multiple locations.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be your own boss so commissions follow you. Build rapport by listening and getting to know clients instead of rushing in and out. My last boss taught me to get in and out in an hour but I do the opposite and sit for 2-3 hours listening which helps me remember details and build lasting relationships.
