Perla D. Cuevas is a C-suite legal executive, entrepreneur, and award-winning Latina leader with nearly 15 years of experience operating at the intersection of law, business strategy, and organizational leadership. She is the Founder and CEO of FirmIQ, a strategic hub for fractional C-suite services that helps law firms and professional service organizations scale with clarity, structure, and intelligence. Through FirmIQ, Perla integrates operations, finance, human resources, and marketing into a unified ecosystem—eliminating silos and replacing guesswork with measurable, sustainable performance. Her work is grounded in one core belief: businesses should not have to guess their way through growth.
Prior to founding FirmIQ, Perla held senior executive roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Head of Human Resources for multi-million-dollar and national legal organizations. She has led enterprise operations, scaled brands, strengthened regulatory compliance, and aligned revenue strategy across complex, multi-office environments throughout Southern California and Nevada. Her expertise spans employment compliance, wage and hour litigation support, PAGA matters, audits, workplace investigations, labor relations, and state and federal policy development. In addition to her executive leadership, Perla serves as an HR Law I & II Instructor at San Diego State University, where she is passionate about preparing future professionals with real-world legal and organizational insight.
Perla holds executive management credentials from Harvard Business School, a paralegal certificate from UC San Diego, and a degree in Business Administration, and she attended Northwestern California University School of Law. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always help others in need, be a true team player, and treat everyone with respect. I’ve learned that empowering your team and leading by example not only builds trust and collaboration, but also creates a culture where people feel valued and motivated to do their best work.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to be the best version of yourself. Stay motivated, maintain a positive mindset, and don’t be afraid to share your ideas and perspectives. Never allow intimidation to dim your voice—know your worth, trust your abilities, and show up with confidence.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field is reaching more people and helping them with their legal needs by embracing change and new ways of connecting. At the same time, improving operational efficiency while supporting marketing and growth efforts remains a key focus.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life include strong time management, meaningful networking, and a commitment to continuing education. I believe in staying focused, pushing forward, and making a difference every day through consistency and purpose.
I am also deeply committed to community involvement, giving back, and pursuing passion-driven work. Building a lasting legacy and advocating for special education are core values that guide my actions and motivate the impact I strive to make.
