About Perla
Perla Garcia, based in Omaha, Nebraska, has built a multifaceted career in the floral industry since starting in 2017. She creates flowers for events, provides photography services, designs dresses, and is launching a flower vending machine that will be the first in the Midwest. Although she pursued some college studies in social work without completing her degree and worked briefly in that field, her passion led her to floral work, where she relies on hands-on experience, classes to stay current with trends, and social media to attract clients. Perla emphasizes values of humility and helping other women succeed, viewing life not as a competition but as an opportunity for mutual support and forward progress.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Definitely not to give up on your dreams. Sometimes it's not the right moment but don't give up, keep pursuing your dreams, planning around obstacles, and always moving forward. Never give up until it happens.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage them not to give up, research it, make connections. There are a lot of other women out there that are happy to give advice and to support one another. Look for those people that would like to be there and support you along the way.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being a mom and business owner is challenging. Society puts a lot of pressure on women. Managing the daily cost of living going up while handling everything at the same time.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Staying humble, always helping other women succeed. Everybody has an opportunity. Life is not a competition. It's about helping each other move forward.
