Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a positive influence not only for students, but for families and the broader community. From my roots in Austria to building programs in Michigan, Chicago, and now at The Discovery School, I've always been passionate about creating meaningful learning opportunities and fostering strong, supportive connections that empower others.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can achieve greatness and make a lasting impact on every person and community you serve—as long as you work hard, stay dedicated, and lead with purpose.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is: You can, and you will—stay the course, stay educated, and never stop learning and growing.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education today is staying adaptable and responsive to constant change while continuing to grow and meet the evolving needs of students. During the COVID pandemic, I was honored to be featured in The New York Times for keeping our school safely open—because I believed then, as I do now, that children need stability, courage, and hope to become the future leaders our world needs.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

One of the most important values to me is being a responsible steward of my community and environment—both at work and in my personal life—which is why I’m proud to support ocean conservation through our school’s partnership with OCEARCH, helping students engage in real-world efforts like recycling and shark tracking to keep our environments and oceans clean and thriving.
